GRAND CHRISTMAS DRAW & RACE NIGHT I
am pleased to inform you that with, the addition of donations, the proceeds of
the Christmas Draw after deduction of £100 for the First Prize were a very
creditable £507.25, thereby reaching and slightly exceeding our target figure
of £500. These proceeds will, of course, be added to the Senior Football Club
Funds.
My thanks go to all who bought tickets, obviously,
and to all of you and some of our players who sold tickets. Further thanks go
to everyone who donated prizes and to those who encouraged people/orgaisations
to donate prizes. I am sure that you will agree that there were 10 very
excellent prizes.

Further thanks are also due to Tom, Gloria and Joe
Williams at The Village Shop who kindly donated a cold buffet for those
attending the above Draw and the Race Night. Finally, many thanks not for the
first time this season, to Colette and Kerrie for looking after the bar and
for their help, with their very able assistants, in other aspects of the
evening, especially to Kerrie who operated the Race Video and refused to get
fazed when a technical hitch arose before the final race.
RACE NIGHT
Attendance at the above further fund raising
function for the Senior Football Club was disappointing, perhaps due to the
earlier postponement of both our First and Second team matches and due to
adverse weather conditions. Despite this poor attendance and the fact that a
decision was made to reduce the number of races to 5 instead of 8,
a remarkable £419.80 was raised (what could it
have been with a full house and all 8 races being run?) for Club Funds.
It has been decided that the other 3 races will be
run during the hospitality period after the First Team match on
Boxing Day with a view to reaching and hopefully
exceeding the target amount for this function after combining the takings of
those on 19th December and those on Boxing Day.
For those prospective punters on Boxing Day who
may be concerned about their chances of winning one or more race,
I will NOT be present, as I hope to be enjoying a
short Christmas break in South Devon! My success on the 19th only goes to show
that you don't really need to know anything about horses to select a winner(s).
Just go with your intuition!
Good luck and Merry Christmas to you all!
Geoff
