CHAIRMAN`S CHAT [for programme for Sat 2/10]

Believe it or not, this will be the first time that the first team will have played a League game at home this season, and the next one is not until 30th October!

While we always appreciate the hospitality shown to us while we are away, it is still great to be back on our home turf.

It is perhaps just as well that we are not at home again till the end of the month, as I am about to go on holiday for 2 weeks, and that means less effort for Garnet Thomas who will be taking over the Secretary side of my job in my absence. I can hear you all saying “What`s he doing taking a holiday in the football season?” There are answers to that one ……………….

It has been a bit of chequered season for Hooky so far to say the least. While we have been well beaten on some occasions, on others luck just hasn`t gone our way. For example we could and should have taken all three points in the League game against Trowbridge, and we played very well against Newbury in the Floodlit Cup (the first actual match at home of the season for us-on 14th September): the result did not reflect the fact that we nearly turned it round!

Just in case you haven`t realised it, we are holding a Race Night at the Club tonight. If you can make it, please come along: these events are always great fun as well as providing significant support for us.

It is a pleasure to welcome the players and officers of Malmesbury Victoria to The Bourne. Let us hope we have a good game of football, and dare I say it a result for Hooky!
